You guys missed the best part of this week's axle-related press releases. It almost snuck under the radar:
"And Norco told us outright they’re “planning … a couple of new platforms to use this [148mm] standard.”
http://www.bikerumor.com/2014/12/19/2016-axle-standards-part-1-rear-148mm-thru-axle-coming-fast-its-about-more-than-just-better-wheels/
Meanwhile at Norco:
"Rather than going with the 150mm rear end spacing that often accompanies a BB107 or 83mm bottom bracket shell, Norco chose to go with a 12x142 rear end, citing the improved heel clearance, and the fact that the bike was designed to be run with a 7 speed drivetrain."

Yeah, because this guy isn't as picky about wheel stiffness as your average-dad 29er customer:

I know that spot.... ;)
Hey now we like it stiff in the rear just like the kids do. But raising kids is expensive and we can't run out and buy a new bike every time the industry obsoletes a wheel-size or other standard.
Who writes Bike Rumor? More importantly who READS Bike Rumor.
I kind of read it for work. I work in bike parts distribution and it's a good heads up as to what is coming down the line aka. What bullshit we are going to need to deal with soon
Ha, in parts distribution here and it that's pretty much exactly what we use it for too.
Blenky still runs flats no? Maybe that's why.
I can't read Tyler Benedict's words without throwing up in my mouth.
The use of irony may require the concept of a double audience. Fowler's A Dictionary of Modern English Usage says:
Irony is a form of utterance that postulates a double audience, consisting of one party that hearing shall hear & shall not understand, & another party that, when more is meant than meets the ear, is aware both of that more & of the outsiders' incomprehension.[4]
Anonymous...just look for him in a coffee bar somewhere in PDX. He's there...on a Mac...typing it...tough find, I know.
